In 1976, Jim Hogan and W. Bernard Fudge founded the Law Offices of Hogan & Fudge, with offices in both Burkburnett and Wichita Falls. Soon after, Billy T. Elder joined the firm having served four years in the United States Air Force JAG Corps.
The firm became Fudge & Elder in 1979 when Jim Hogan became Judge of the County Court at Law of Wichita County, Texas.
W. Bernard Fudge left the firm to serve as Judge of the 78th District Court of Wichita County, Texas, and the firm became Elder, Bickings & Spurgers, with Steven J. Bickings having joined the firm in 2008 and Michael R. Spurgers joining in 2009.
When Michael R. Spurgers retired in 2015, the firm became Elder & Bickings, and James R. Suter joined shortly thereafter. James R. Suter was appointed General Counsel for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth in 2017, and Jonathan R. Ellzey joined the firm. In 2020, the firm changed its name to Elder, Bickings & Ellzey.
We are proud of our history and those who have come before us. While our name has changed, our values and beliefs continue to stay the same. Service to our clients and community has been and will be at the heart of what we do.
We strive to provide our clients with with the highest degree of professional services, to help our clients achieve their goals, and to prevent and solve problems. We believe in maintaining close personal relationships with our clients and our community.
Much has changed over the last fifty years, but our commitment remains the same. We have a strong foundation and look forward to building for the next generation of the firm.
